We're in!!

The Anatomy Collective will be participating in Chicago's very own Fringe Festival this coming September. Showcased in various venues throughout Pilsen, this inaugural event invites emerging and established performing artists from Chicago, the U.S. and beyond to showcase their work and add to the dialogue of theatrical art. The Festival also seeks to enhance the perception of Chicago as a major hub for theatre and encourages performers to take bold risks by providing an avenue for affordable productions while reaching out to non-traditional theater-goers. Like TAC, The Chicago Fringe Festival provides an avenue for diverse artists and audience members to connect in a singular and immediate way.
After some hot cocoa and entertainment, a live lottery was held at Temple Gallery in the heart of the Chicago Arts District. Over 150 artists put their names in the hat, but only forty six will be seen in September. Besides The Anatomy Collective participants include...

The Anatomy Collective will be presenting I Live In A Lightbox: A Preliminary Study
Wooden Frames, Glass, Mirrors, Photographs, Acetate, Vellum, Wood, Sockets, Wire, Lamps

I Live In A Lightbox is an ongoing exploration on the phenomenon of light, in all its forms and functions both utilitarian and philosophical. Out of this project will emerge a series of luminous performances that seek to engage the viewer in conversation about the generally held perceptions of how we choose to illuminate ourselves as a society. The broad themes of this project, including over-illumination and light pollution will take on many physical forms throughout the series; Christine Ferriter and the Anatomy Collective will use illuminated objects, installations, activities and performances to lead the discussion on why we’re all afraid of the dark.
The first installment, I Live In A Lightbox: A Preliminary Study, aims to open the discussion to the community by offering three lightbox installations. Each will reflect on the choices we make in lighting our day-to-day activities and is a response to the inevitable sense of detachment and longing that is left when we are no longer relying on the rhythms of the natural world to influence our lives. This preliminary phase of the series is an exercise in research and intends to record and absorb the initial responses of the community into its study.

After seven months and six performances GONE is finally... well, gone. We'd like to extend a huge THANK YOU to our entire ensemble and of course of wonderful audiences. If GONE left an impression on you, we'd love to hear about it, did we leave you confused and completely disoriented or crying tears of melancholy and joy? Please let us know!
