Lucid Anatomy in conjunction with the Chicago Park District and Chicago Artists Month present GONE or Who Is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am

[CHICAGO, IL] – The Anatomy Collective & Lucid Street Theatre team up once again as Lucid Anatomy to present GONE or Who Is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am, Part II in the performance series Zombies to Alzheimer’s examining the theme of mutation in it’s many forms. Created in partnership with the Chicago Parks District as part of Chicago Artists Month, GONE or Who Is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am travels through three levels of the dynamic Douglas Park Field House as an ensemble of physical theatre artists and musicians explore the ins and outs of memory and the fascinating ways our brains change. Using research, interviews, physical explorations of memory, Alzheimer's Disease, and 'Pleasant Dementia,' the GONE ensemble will seek to discover what is it that makes us who we are.

GONE is the second installment of Lucid Anatomy's three part series exploring Zombies to Alzheimer’s and everything in-between. Born out of a conversation about zombies and a fascination with mutation, this series has led to unexpected places and exciting questions. Who are we when we are no longer ourselves? What do we become without our memories, without our minds? How do we connect with each other as we lose our personal histories? Is anything really ever gone?

Using a collaborative development style that focused on new ways of creating ritual and performance for our contemporary community GONE or Who Is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am was developed over the course of seven months as an ensemble of performers, musicians, and designers with director Stephanie M Acosta (Artistic Director of the Anatomy Collective.) The Performance Ensemble includes Phil Cottrell, Craig R Donavin, Lily Emerson (Movement Director & Artistic Director of Lucid Street Theatre,) Amy Jensen, Kieran Kredell, Carole McCurdy, and Tara Smith. Original music composed and performed by Charlie Universe and The Little Star Music Box. Costume Design by Aurora Tabar and Sara Thompson. Lighting Design by Christine Ferriter (Resident Designer for the Anatomy Collective). Sound Design by Rory Murphy.

GONE or Who Is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am opens Friday, October 2, 2009 at 7:30pm at the Douglas Park Field House, 1401 S. Sacramento Dr., Chicago, IL 60623 and will be presented along side an accompanying art exhibit entitled Mutations. The performance will run approximately one hour and twenty minutes with no intermission. The audience will be asked to travel with the performers throughout three levels of the venue; therefore we are unfortunately unable to accommodate wheelchairs.

GONE or Who Is It Who Can Tell Me Who I Am runs Friday & Saturday evenings at 7:30pm; October 2, 3, 9, and 10 at Douglas Park and October 16 & 17 at High Concept Laboratories. LUCID ANATOMY IS…

The Anatomy Collective is dedicated to exploring and developing performance at the intersection of multiple artistic disciplines. By engaging and combing diverse and seemingly disparate forms of expression and collaborations we believe we can enrich our own aesthetic and more effectively serve the needs of our audience & community. Formed in Chicago, IL during the winter of 2004/2005 the Anatomy Collective has continued to evolve their own anatomy and the anatomy of all those they come across. The debut production, MANY THINGS ARE DESTROYING ME, opened July 2005 at the All Rise Gallery (fka highschool gallery) and led to a trans-global experiment where they were taken ‘down under’ for their first international collaboration, waking, with the Melbourne, Australia based Concrete Cloud Theatre Collective. Other works from TAC include …And a Lack Thereof, Dumpsterland (’06) and Sad Sullen Girls & Other Such Squid (’09) (in conjunction with the Chicago Underground Library,) I Haven’t Checked My Voice Mail Yet (But F**k You.) and the inaugural Lucid Anatomy production, Part I in the Z to A series, Monster/Girl.

Lucid Street Theatre is a small performance collective dedicated to providing the Chicago community with engaging, innovative, affordable performances that transform the everyday and spark genuine human connection. With a focus on utilizing non-traditional spaces, source materials and performance mediums, Lucid Street Theatre aims to create theatre that draws its audience out of passivity and into action, both mental and physical. Thus far, performances include 2007's butoh-inspired i'm worried my body is falling apart, 2008's simple and sweet Up From the Earth, and the rain-soaked extravaganza that was A Humechanical Nightmare at Looptopia 2008, not to mention Part I of Lucid Anatomy's mutation series: 2009's Monster/Girl.
