I Haven't Checked My Voicemail Yet (But F**k You)
What's your destiny beyond the screen?
In this small window into the world of the internet-obsessed, The Anatomy Collective explores questions on the shifting pages of our e-realities. TAC's Artist in Residence Lizz Edele presents her first piece for Chicago audiences that is part reference, part word play, and part propaganda. From their own tiny high-tech bubble our 4-member ensemble ask the audience, and themselves: Is the technology that allows us to reach anyone also pushing us away from ourselves? Is the creation of personal online propaganda enabling the elimination of actual life experience?
Director Stephanie M. Acosta combines physical theatre techniques with bursts of reality and evocative sound collage created by Rory Murphy to create a world where iPhones are blocks of wood and produce can be a computer. Together with Lighting & Scenic Designer Christine Ferriter, Acosta and the ensemble show us a world of physical storytelling that is visceral, evocative and moving, leaving the audience no option but to question their own relationship with their mouse pad.
