The Anatomy Collective is back! After a quick spin across the globe TAC is back in Chicago and paired up with the Chicago Underground Library, diving headfirst into their new reinterpretation series, Orphan Works, featuring obscure and anonymous works from the CUL collection.
No need to fear. There will be no sad poems about the cat that ran away when the braided (and barefoot) hippie chick was young: this isn't your little sister's reading series. Burrow through the crumpled pages of Chicago's literary underground and come out a little dirty, a little wired and a little curious.
One night a month some of the most creative minds in Chicago come out to play. This month a new collaboration takes off with the rowdy, the absurd and the maybe-a-little-bit-strange, yes, it's the kids from the Anatomy Collective and, yes, they are eating paper.
What is Orphan Works all about? YOUR Community. There is an ongoing debate on the status of "orphan" works. These sometimes anonymous works, or works for which further information on the author cannot be found, are in danger of being lost. A number of groups and individuals are fighting to keep them free for creative reuse and artistic exploration. This is OUR heritage. These Chicago orphans may never again see the light of day unless someone adopts them.
The audience is encouraged to stay, enjoy a cup of joe and some one-on-one with the fantastic folks from Chicago Underground Library & the artists of the Anatomy Collective.

The Chicago Underground Library is a project that aims to create a location-specific archive of self- and small press-published works from the Chicago area. Through a searchable online archive and a physical space, it will open new opportunities for research, inspiration, and collaboration among those in and outside of the publishing community. By putting fiction, critical journals, zines, poetry, comics, political pamphlets, and art books side by side, CUL hopes to bridge the gaps resultant from stratification along the lines of content, production value, and commercial viability.
