description
In this re-imagining of Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound, The Anatomy Collective explores the infamous Titan as oracle, martyr, catalyst, narcissist, and storyteller. As familiar characters such as Hermes, Zeus, Hercules, and Io chronicle the past, present, and future, their stories are brought to life using puppetry and live action, creating a fast-paced visual world with a constantly shifting point of view. Melding ancient and contemporary verse, a new rhythmic language is forged, through which the magic of Prometheus’ story flows.
The 13-person ensemble plays with perspective as they transform from actors to storytellers to puppeteers, bringing to life haunting pasts and imminent futures. Director Stephanie M. Acosta combines physical theatre techniques with marionettes, bunraku puppetry, shadow puppetry, and a sweeping industrial setting to create a dynamic world.
Together with movement director Molly Feingold, Acosta and the ensemble create a world of physical storytelling that is visceral, free, and electric with life, leaving the audience no option but to ride the experience through to the end.
Don’t miss THE PROMETHEUS MYTH . . . our history is our future.
